The Installation Process
What a New Boiler Installation Involves
A good boiler installation begins before the engineer arrives with the new appliance. We assess the property, explain the options and plan the work around the heating system already in place.
Correct Boiler Sizing
Boiler output should match the home and the household's needs. We consider the number of radiators, bathrooms and expected hot-water use.
System Flush Before Fitting
The heating system is assessed before installation. Older systems may require cleaning or a power flush where circulation and system condition make it appropriate.
Professional Installation
The old boiler is removed and the new appliance is fitted, connected and tested by a Gas Safe registered engineer.
Gas Safe Notification
The installation is completed in line with the relevant requirements. Gas Safe notification and Building Regulations documentation are handled as part of the work.
Warranty and Handover
We register the applicable warranty, explain the controls and show you how to use the new boiler before the installation is signed off.
Choosing a Boiler
Which Boiler Is Right for Your Home?
The right boiler depends on the property's heating system, available space and hot-water demand. We explain the differences before recommending a model.
- Combi boilers. A combi provides heating and hot water without a separate cylinder. It may suit homes where space is limited and demand is manageable.
- System boilers. A system boiler works with a hot-water cylinder and can suit properties with greater hot-water demand or more than one bathroom.
- Regular or heat-only boilers. These can be suitable where an existing traditional system already uses separate tanks and a cylinder.
- Household size matters. The number of occupants, bathrooms and radiators all affect the appropriate boiler type and output.
- Local system conditions matter too. Much of the area has soft water, which is generally kind to heating systems. Older ex-colliery homes may still need a power flush where sludge or poor circulation is present.

How long does a boiler installation take?

Do you remove the old boiler?
