No Heating or Hot Water
A complete loss of heating or hot water becomes urgent quickly in cold weather, particularly where there are young children, older residents or anyone unwell in the property.
If your boiler has stopped completely, started leaking or locked out with a fault code, Connected Gas & Heating takes emergency calls seven days a week across County Durham and the North East. We are Gas Safe registered under number 186715.
Smell gas? Do not call us first.
If you smell gas or suspect a gas leak, call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 straight away. Open windows, turn off the gas at the meter if it is safe to do so, avoid using electrical switches and leave the property if you feel unwell. Arrange a boiler repair only once the supply has been made safe.
Is It an Emergency?
Not every boiler fault needs an emergency visit, and it helps to know the difference. These are the situations where you should call rather than wait for a routine appointment.
No Heating or Hot Water
A complete loss of heating or hot water becomes urgent quickly in cold weather, particularly where there are young children, older residents or anyone unwell in the property.
Water Leaking From the Boiler
Water beneath the boiler or running from pipework should be looked at promptly. Turn off the water supply to the appliance if you can reach the valve safely.
Repeated Lockouts
A boiler that shuts down and will not restart, or that locks out again shortly after being reset, needs proper diagnosis rather than repeated resetting.
Rapid Pressure Loss
Pressure that falls within hours rather than months usually points to a leak somewhere in the system and should not be topped up indefinitely.
Frozen Condensate Pipe
Cold weather can freeze the external condensate pipe and shut the boiler down. This is one of the most common winter callouts across the North East.
Burning Smells or Loud Noises
Unusual smells, banging or sudden loud noises from the appliance should be investigated. Switch the boiler off and call rather than continuing to run it.
Before We Arrive
A few simple checks can sometimes restore heating without a visit, and the information you gather will help our engineer arrive better prepared.
Our Response
Connected Gas & Heating takes emergency boiler calls seven days a week. We provide a same or next-day response across our service area, and it is rare that we cannot attend the same day.
What Happens When You Call
We ask what the boiler is doing, what the display shows and how long it has been faulty. That tells us how urgent the visit is and what parts may be needed.
The engineer diagnoses the fault, explains it plainly and agrees a fixed price before any chargeable work starts. Read more about how our repair visits work.
Plan Holders
Boiler service plan holders receive a callout within 12 hours when they contact us before 5pm. This commitment applies to plan holders only and is one of the main reasons customers take out cover before winter.

Common Questions
We take emergency boiler calls seven days a week and provide a same or next-day response. It is rare that we cannot attend the same day. Boiler service plan holders receive a callout within 12 hours when they contact us before 5pm.
Call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 immediately. Open windows, avoid using electrical switches, turn off the gas at the meter if it is safe to do so and leave the property if you feel unwell. Arrange a boiler repair only once the supply has been made safe.
The cost depends on the fault and any parts needed. We diagnose the problem, explain the repair and agree a fixed price before chargeable work begins, so there is no unexpected charge afterwards.
If the gas supply is working elsewhere in the property, the fault is more likely to sit within the boiler or its controls. Whether it needs an emergency visit depends on the weather, the household and how long the property has been without heat.
Many faults can be repaired during the first visit. Where a specific part is required, we explain what is needed and arrange a return visit as quickly as possible rather than fitting something unsuitable.
Report a Fault
For an urgent fault, calling is always fastest. If you would rather write, tell us what has happened, when it started and whether the boiler shows a fault code.
