Radiator Upgrades

When to Replace or Add a Radiator

A radiator should be replaced or added when the room does not heat properly, the existing unit is damaged or the property layout has changed.

Rooms That Never Warm Up

A radiator may be too small for the room or poorly positioned. We assess the required output before recommending a replacement.

Rusty or Leaking Radiators

Visible corrosion, leaking valves or damage around the radiator may mean replacement is more practical than repeated repairs.

Extensions and Loft Conversions

New rooms often need additional heating. We can assess whether the existing heating system can support another radiator.

More Efficient Radiators

Modern radiators can provide improved output from a suitable size and design, helping the room warm more effectively.

A Better-Looking Finish

Vertical, column and designer radiators can suit renovated rooms where the old radiator no longer matches the layout or style.

Cold at the Bottom

A radiator that stays cold at the bottom may contain sludge or suffer from poor circulation. We check the system before recommending replacement.

Radiator Options

Types of Radiators We Install

We fit practical standard radiators and more decorative options. The important part is choosing the correct output for the room, not simply choosing a radiator by width.

  • Convector radiators. A familiar and practical option for bedrooms, living rooms and general domestic heating.
  • Column radiators. Traditional-looking radiators that can suit period properties and renovated interiors.
  • Vertical and designer radiators. Useful where wall space is limited or the radiator forms part of the room design.
  • Bathroom towel rails. Heated towel rails provide useful warmth and drying space in bathrooms and en-suites.
  • Correct room sizing. We consider room size, heat loss and the wider system so the radiator can heat the space properly.

Even Heating

Radiator Balancing and Better Heat Around Your Home

Installing a radiator is only part of the job. The heating system must circulate water evenly so one room does not stay cold while another overheats.

Whole-System Performance

Radiator balancing adjusts the flow through each radiator so heat is distributed more evenly. Thermostatic radiator valves help control individual rooms, while trapped air, stuck valves or sludge can also leave one radiator cooler than the others.

We assess the wider system instead of simply fitting a new radiator and leaving the underlying problem untouched.

System Drained and Refilled

Where draining is required, we refill the system properly and check circulation after installation.

Floors Protected and Area Cleaned

We protect the work area, remove installation waste and leave the room ready to use.

For a wider heating upgrade, you can also consider a full new boiler installation or underfloor heating as an alternative.

Common Questions

Radiator Installation Questions Answered

How much does it cost to replace a radiator?

The cost depends on the radiator type, valves, pipework and whether the new radiator is staying in the same position. We assess the work and provide a fixed quote before installation begins.

Can you add a radiator to my existing system?

Yes, where the existing heating system can support the additional radiator. We consider the boiler, current radiator load, pipework and room requirements before confirming the work.

Why is one radiator always cold?

A single cold radiator may be caused by trapped air, a stuck thermostatic valve, poor system balancing or sludge. A radiator that is cold at the bottom often points to restricted circulation or internal deposits.

Do you fit designer or vertical radiators?

Yes. We fit vertical, designer, column and standard convector radiators. We also check that the chosen radiator has enough output to heat the room properly.

Will you drain and refill the heating system?

Yes, where the installation requires the system to be drained. We refill the system, check the radiator and valves, and confirm that heating circulation is working before completing the job.
